Two teammates were with New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd at a Manhattan nightclub before he was shot early Sunday (November 16) morning.

Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood and wide receiver Irvin Charles were both Boyd at Sei Less Asian Fusion nightclub when a group made comments about their fancy clothes, which reportedly made the cornerback feel uneasy about their vibe, sources told the New York Post. The three NFL players were exiting the club at around 2:00 a.m. when a scuffle broke out in the street and shots were fired, with one striking boyd in the abdomen.

A video shared by the @Crime_In_NYC X account showed the scuffle and gunshots are heard in the background. Boyd was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and listed initially reported to be in critical but stable condition, however, is scheduled to be released.

The cornerback was reported to have had a bullet lodged in his lungs at the time of his hospitalization, according to sources. No one in Boyd's group was armed at the time of the shooting, sources confirmed to the New York Post.

The New York Police Department released two images of a person of interest who was "described as male, medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag" and reported to have "fled the location on foot traveling eastbound on West 38 Street to parts unknown."

Boyd signed a one-year contract with the Jets this past offseason and was placed on injured reserve on August 18. The former University of Texas standout was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh-round of the 2019 NFL Draft and spent his first four NFL seasons with the franchise before stints with the Arizona Cardinals (2023) and Houston Texans (2023-2024).

Charles, 28, signed with the Jets in 2023 and is currently on the physically unable to perform list. Sherwood, 25, who is a defensive captain and led the NFL in solo sacks last season, signed a three-year, $45 million extension with the Jets in March.
