Homemade spike strips were discovered on two roads in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, prompting an investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police. The strips, constructed from wooden boards with protruding nails, were found around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday (September 21) along Route 981 and Mendon Road in South Huntingdon Township. Painted black to blend in with the road, these devices were intended to deflate vehicle tires.

According to TribLIVE, this incident follows a similar occurrence last month in Brackenridge, where police found small spiked caltrops scattered on local roads. The state police are actively investigating and urge anyone with information to contact the Belle Vernon barracks at 724-929-6262.

The authorities are seeking assistance from the public, particularly from those who may have had their vehicles damaged by these strips or who might have information about the perpetrators. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to ensure the safety of motorists in the area.
